Transparency

Ahh, where do I begin?

Well in, the words of Jack Welch, "trust happens when leaders are transparent!".

Transparency is an absolute accessible first step to build trust + confidence between you and your fellow sisters, teammates or colleagues.

I share with others all the time that transparency applies to so many different aspects of our lives. It is the underlying factor to everything you hold dear: longevity of personal relationships, finances, and your chosen career. When you lead with transparency, you set a standard for everyone else in your company to live by. You set the tone. I think we can all agree on that, it’s common sense. It feels a little weird to say this now because I’m speaking as a mature adult today, but I remember when I actually disliked words such as, “transparency” or “full disclosure”, it was uncomfortable. And I’ve spent most of my life feeling this way. Those types of words made life feel so heavy and serious, but with age comes wisdom (if you seek it). I have learned that transparency is just another word for honesty + openness and I love all of those components! Honesty, openness, healthy communication, forgiveness and accountability sounds like music to my ears! They all go hand in hand with being transparent in every area of your life. The importance of transparency in leadership becomes more relevant and apparent as it creates a workplace culture of healthy communication, accountable behavior and respect for both employees and leaders.

Are you living your life with truth and transparency or are you having trouble creating spaces that promote such things?

Think about it before you answer, then reflect and journal your response.
